Welcome to Lord Bom Jesus Parish Church!
Located next to the City Council Chamber and near the old Major Gercino Parish Church, this church is a true haven of serenity and spirituality. With a charming courtyard and an atmosphere that inspires peace and reflection, it is a place where worshippers and visitors can find moments of tranquility and spiritual connection.
Its history dates back to 1993, when a decree from the Metropolitan Curia, signed by Dom Eusébio Oscar Scheid, established the Parish of Senhor Bom Jesus de Major Gercino. This act divided the territory of the parishes of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Leoberto Leal and São João Batista. Father Gregório Petry was its first parish priest, succeeded by Father Luís Prim in 1995, and later by Father Otávio Maffezzolli in 1996.
In addition to its rich history, the church offers a unique spiritual experience. Right at the entrance, visitors will find a small artificial grotto with the image of Our Lady of Lourdes, a place of devotion and contemplation.
The church was also built as a tribute by the Major Gercino community to Monsignor José Lock, whose 60-year priesthood marked the lives of many faithful in municipalities such as Laguna, Imbituba, São João Batista and, of course, Major Gercino, where he rests in the tomb.
This is a place where history intertwines with devotion, and where each visitor is invited to find peace and meaning in their spiritual journey.
